Trying to find my great grandmother's ancestors.

Trying to find out more about my maternal great Grandmother, Rose Davies who lived in Amblecote, Stourbridge, Staffs. After talking to my Aunt who was her daughter I am 99% confident as there are siblings by the name of Sarah and Alfred which my Aunt verified. Her parents according to the 1911 census are Albert b. 1863 and Annie b. 1865. Any help tracing earlier relatives would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michelle.

Any advice on finding Albert and Annie's parents would be helpful as I am new to this and unsure about the details I have on this.

Lynski

Do you have Rose's birth certificate to confirm her mother's maiden name.

Then you can find the marriage of Albert and Annie.

Not atm, will be getting it Tuesday. From what my great Aunt has said though it does add up that they are my great gran's parents.

Lynski

1911 census states 6 children born, 1 died.

Michelle

Michelle Report 6 Apr 2012 23:40

How can you tell from the census if any children died? :-S

Lynski

Lynski Report 6 Apr 2012 23:47

I looked at the original 1911 census and it states how many children born, died and still living.

This was the first census where that question was asked.

Michelle

Michelle Report 6 Apr 2012 23:49

On the 1911 census I have for Albert and Annie only 5 children are listed :-S

Just magnified the census image and found it, interesting because my great gran never spoke about it to her children and she would have known being the eldest child.

Only five children are listed because one had died as Lynski mentioned

Yep I found that when I zoomed in on the census. i can't remember my nan or her sisters ever mentioning it though.

Michelle

That's not unusual. When I got the 1911 for my mother it revealed 4 children had died. She never ever mentioned it to me and at least one was after she was born. Must have been sad for them to lose a brother or sister.
