Hi, thank you. I have only looked at the records for births on Ancestry. I did wonder if Gravesdend would have come under something else but I saw other entries for Gravesend so I guess it doesn't. I know that on her sisters marriage certificate the father is 'Harry Miller' but I haven't been able to find anything on him either, but maybe he's not the same father. I'm beginning to think they just dropped from the sky, I've never had so much trouble finding someone. |

You would think we could find Jane Emma with Emma in 1871, but No. |

I am still trying to find out about Emma. I have her marriage certificate to William. She was 35 and a spinster. Both she and William were living at Bromley Common and her fathers' name was George. George was a groom and was deceased, the marriage was in Bromley, 24 September 1876 at Trinity Church, the witnesses were Mary Ann Checkly and Harry Checkly - who signed with 'x' as did Emma. Surname spelt' Whiffen'. I have looked at census records again and have still drawn a blank. Any light would be really helpful. |

The 1881 census under William Larkin lists Jane Emma and Louisa Elizabeth as his step daughters. I am looking for anything pre 1881 that will give me a lead to Emmas family i.e. parents. I must admit that I hadn't thought of getting Louisas birth certificate to see if there is a fathers name, but my main objective is to try and get some more information on Emma. |

Hello Denise - what was Emma's marital status on her marriage certificate to William Larkin? |

Emma was born in 1841 in Gravesend,Kent. She had her first child Jane Emma in 1867 in Bromley and her second - my gt. grandmother - Louisa Elizabeth in 1872. I can only trace her from 1881 when she had married William Larkin. The space for her father on Louisas' marriage certificate is blank but on her sisters' it names 'Harry Miller'. I have looked at census forms for the appropriate years but have come up with nothing. Can someone guide me please? |
