I am trying to find the date of the death of my great grandfather, Charles Henry House. born 1852 in London, his father was a cheesemonger, as was he. He married Florence and had two children. Any help welcome.

The Charles above is a publican. Rosina was also born London.
Will try to find them earlier, to exclude them if poss.

I note on the 1901 that Jan found that he is a publican (as stated above) and that he works on own account at home. Seems entirely possible that he changed occupation - might have sold the cheese business.
Rosina was also born London.

Silly me!! When I posted the 1881 I said I hadn't bothered with the staff - look who was amongst them:

SMITH, Rosina Shop Woman Single F 22 1859 Shopwoman (Bakers) Birmingham Warwickshire

(But the 1901 did say London)

Well spotted MarieCeleste! Maybe she was born Birmingham - why else put it really - and on the 1901 it just suffered from the dreaded ditto!

Thank you for this. I hadnt thought about another marriage, but this must be his. I know my grandmother, Florence, married to leave home and get away from her father, obviously lots of problems there! Her brother died young as well as her mother. Will try again to find death in Birmingham!!
