Find Ancestors

I am helping someone do their family history and have come across this man:
Thomas William Norledge born 1863 Newark, Nottinghamshire, parents are George Joseph Norledge and Fanny Walsham Scoffings. Joseph was a letter carrier and Postman.
In 1881 Thomas Norledge is with his parents age 18, occ Fruitiers Assistant.

The only other references I can come up with are for a Rev T W Norledge, a Baptist missionary. Date of birth and place of birth are the same. Rev T W Norledge is on a few incoming passenger lists returning from India.

The Fry family is the Quaker Fry family who are quite well known. I have ascertained that it is Elina A P Norledge is the cousin of Sophie Fry, both their maiden names are Prideaux.

As I don’t like to assume anything, how can I prove that this man is the same as the one with the humble beginnings in Newark?
