Hi there safc,
Thanks for this marriage Record, I have looked at this one before but always thought it was a long time after their first child was born. But this could possibly be them if they finally dec ided to marry. I will probably get the certificate just in case. I don,t think you are still able to cross check with parents names at GRO, I,ll have to make sure. It will still be certainly worth a go.
Once again, thanks a lot, I,ll let everybody know if I find them.
Jeanette.

Hi Jan,
I hadn,t started, so thanks for the tip about the entries starting at Negus, I now know to start from the end of the M,s. I don,t think I would have been any smarter than you, would still be figuring it out. So thanks.
Will let everyone know if I find anything.
Jeanette.

Hi Jeanette.
To be honest, if you are thinking just 1861-71 it shouldn't really take too long. I had a couple of goes for Sarah just to remind myself how it works! If you do this you might find - as I did - that the entries for N start too far on, at Negus for example, so you need to check the end of the M's. Sorry to state what is probably obvious to you, but it took me a while to figure this out (DER). Good luck!!

Hi Jan,
Thanks for replying, and for the tip about browsing through the index, I am indeed a member of Ancestry, I think I will just have to bite the bullet and put some time aside to do this.
As you say a fun evening, but needs must. I,ll have to do so many at a time from 1861 onwards.
Jeanette.

The other option is to trawl through the indexes 'manually' just in case the entry has been missed off. A fun way of spending an evening!! :-D

In case you are not aware of this on Ancestry, (I am making the big assumption that you are a member) go here and you will see box on the right - 'browse this selection'. You know it is 1861 onwards at least.

Hi flip,
Thank you so much for the two births in Eccleshall Bierlow, I wasn,t sure whether this came under Sheffield. I think I will send for the birth certificate to check parents names and date of birth. As you say she could well have b een married before, I will have to bear this in mind. I must apologise for asking for help and then disappearing from the boards, something happened and I had to visit relatives and have just got back. I had no time to explain.
I,m extremely grateful for everyone,s help. I might still someday find a wedding reg for them unless of course they didn,t actually marry.
Thanks also to Shirley for the 1911 census information, the one census I didn,t have because Ancestry have not yet made Worcestershire searchable. I had no idea they had moved to Bewdley, Worcestershire.
Once again,thanks to all.
Jeanette

Her older sister? the younger 2 from that census were reg Sheffield:

Births Sep 1841 (>99%)

NEESHAM Mary Ann Ecclesall Bierlow 22 106

Flip

Flip Report 5 Mar 2012 18:02

Could this be her birth, right reg district and she must have constantly lied about her age and is older than george on 1911 census

Births Sep 1843 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NEESHAM Sarah Ecclesall Bierlow 22 107

Added, if this is correct she could have married as early as 1859 to someone other than George, but can't see anything obvious.

Hi all,
With reference to Sarah,s age, I should have said that she appears to have born in Sheffield in 1846 not 1849. Sorry for the mistake. Although her age varies on the different census returns. Thanks again for everyone,s help. I,ll just keep on looking.

Hi,
Thank you Brummiejan, Andrew and Shirley for taking a look for me,I was basing the date of the marriage on the childrens ages. I wouldn,t have thought Sarah would have been married before as she was only born in 1849, but you never know. I got her maiden name from my Grandmothers birth certiificate, she was clara kitchen, born in 1873, in Birmingham, Warwickshire, I have the family on the various census forms. The only one I can,t find Sarah on is the 1861 census when she is not with her family John and Elizabeth Neesham. I can only surmise she is working away from home, possibly as a servant.
Although Sarah was born in Sheffield in 1849, the family is back in Birmingham in 1851 and appear to stay in Birmingham from then on. I have looked on various websites for a marriage in Birmingham or possibly Yorkshire, but no luck. I have all the various census forms for George but no marriage for them. Perhaps they just did not marry at all. Anyway thanks a lot to everyone for looking for me.
Jeanette.

I can't see a marriage anywhere, certainly not on Freebmd. Is there any chance she was married previously?

Hi all
Would anybody be so good as to try to find a marriage between Sarah Neesham and George Kitchen in either the Warwickshire area or the Yorkshire area in approximately 1868 on wards.
