Thanks, Quoy.

Can I please ask for another favour? Can you see William b. 1856 London City in 1891 or 1901 census? I believe he was discharged from the navy 1891 in Chatham, Kent so may be in Kent somewhere, possibly married. I know it is a big ask! Thanks again.

Ooh he would be a visitor, wouldn't he! His Royal Marine records I just downloaded gives his occupation as shoemaker so that fits perfectly.

hmmm...'cept it says he was born in Ireland...

Think I found his nephew Robert John HUNTER b. 1884 Kent, as a military person as well in 1911 in Hampshire??? Not sure, might not be him.

(In 1901 Robt was a licenced porter, I have that one).

Well if the 1891 one is him, as a single man, this seems unlikely I agree!

They really are a nuisance this lot! ;-)

Choccy

Choccy Report 20 Feb 2012 08:46

Possible that the children in the 1901 census were not Hunters and maybe only Rose was their daughter (big age difference). Can't find a marriage between 1891 and 1901 for William and Caroline.

Can't see any of them as Hunters in 1891, or indeed 1911.

Just a thought!

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 20 Feb 2012 08:54

Wouldn't surprise me, these Hunter men !!! :-D

Just ordered the birth cert for WW - not sure how much good it will do in terms of finding Irish records, but you never know!
