Dawn

here is an excellent site to check for arrivals in New York ......... all immigrants had to go through Ellis Island.

This site carries records from 1892 to about 1935

http://www.ellisisland.org/

You have to register with the site to view the records, but it is free.

Dawn, I've added the info from the original image - you can see who he went with. (I usually post the transcription when I find it, then go back and look at the original image and make noted which I then add).

Will go and look for deaths .........

EDIT - can't find a death for George, but he would possibly have been too old when he arrived to have a social security number. That tree I mentioned has him dying in 1935 in NY state.

Sarah (nee Schooling) is stated as dying 1946.

Their nok was son George at Jordan's Farm, Prittenhall. They intended to reside permanently in US and onward destination was their daughter Mrs E Cain of Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY.

There is a well researched tree on ancestry that has lots of info on the family, including a photo of Gertrude.

If you're not a member of anc then you can register for free on their spin-off site Mundia. There you can search & view public ancestry trees and contact owners. http://www.mundia.com/gb/
