More help please !
George Wells married (Matilda Cooper) in 1918 at Kinson (Bournemouth)claiming to be 23 She claimed to be 19 but was 17 so he may be younger too.
They raised their children in Bransgore Hants (Thorney Hill)
His father is given as Joe deceased and there is a Joseph on Free BMD 1915.
I have not managed to find him in 1891 or 1901 (or 1811) !
Can anyone help please ?

Apologies for disappearing-had a "freeze" and have had to re boot and re log in !
Flick
The 1915 death was registered Christchurch which covered Bransgore at that time
George's occupation was "labourer" on his M/Certificate
Matilda died in 1967-Christchurch but have not been sure of the right George Wells entry, there are so many of them !

I wonder if this is the witnesses and possilby the reason the family are difficult to locate is that they might have been travellers. The census form in 1911 is signed by the enumerator so Major could not write

Based on a tree on Anc... this could be Joseph Wells who also seems to be known as Josiah - Working as a basket maker and the address listed as a gypsy van. The tree lists him as having a son George in 1896 who was baptised in Copythorne. The following son Henry b 1898 was baptised twice on 7 Jan 1898 at Brockenhurst; 12 Jan 1898 at Bransgore
1891

I think you have "cracked" it for me..thank you soooo........much
Yes,they were "travellers"- (or New Forest gypsys !!)
George & Matilda are my DIL maternal grandparents,
I found a tree on A*****try with Matilda in it but their interest was in Cooper so will look at the one with Josiah.
Shall now proceed to the next hurdle
Very many thanks to all who have helped
:-) :-)

I am still having trouble with this family (WELLS)
They appear in two places in 1891-Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst ,different children !!
I am wondering if they are the same family, making the enummerators job more difficult.
K .......kindly supplied the 1911 info above and I am wondering if the 1911 census with Josiah (born 1858) gives the number of children born and survived for him ?
Cannot find them in 1901 so they must have dodged that one

The 1911 census for Josiah doesn't give any info about length of marriage or number of children, probably because he was a widower.
The children were supposed to be stated for each married woman, rather than the man.

I hadn't noticed the other Joseph Wells/Wills in 1891. I think you are right and they have been double counted.
The children names are very simliar with one child completely different in each record.
