Hi' Marie,
I believe they got married in the USA, however I'll ring a cousin and see what info she has, her father was a brother to Daniel.
Thanks again
Liam

Edit
Eileen married in the USA,
The photo I have, show Garden Street, possibly around Madison Square Garden.
I rang my Cousin ,she doesn't know anything

There were loads of Mary O'Leary's arriving in New York.

No way of being sure, but this might fit the bill:

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957

Name: Mary Oleary
Arrival Date: 28 Sep 1910
Birth Year: abt 1886
Birth Location: Ireland
Birth Location Other: clonskilty
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Ethnicity/RaceĀ/Nationality: Irish
Port of Departure: Queenstown, Ireland
Port of Arrival: New York, New York

Hmmm, original says she was going to West Virginia to her aunt.

Liam - I don't suppose you have a first name for Daniel's wife?

Do you know which side of the Atlantic Eileen married ?

Liam Report 21 Jan 2012 18:34

Hi' Maria and Margee,
Many thanks for your input.
The Daniel who arrived on the oceanic is the correct one, he came from Dunmanway, Co Cork.
He died back in Dunmanway in 1953
I have photo's of him and Eileen of her marriage [ no date given ] but I would guess around 2nd world time
Eileen's mothers surname was either O'leary/ Leary, who came from Clonakilty area and the story is she died in childbirth.

Kind Regards
Liam

Margee, I agree that the chap arriving on the Umbria was a US citizen.

Liam, if you want to tell us more about what you're trying to find then happy to dig around. If you're trying to trace Eileen's birth then it would help if you could tell us her mother's name.

The Daniel Murray who arrived New York 27 Aug. 1904 aboard the Umbria was a different fellow than the one who arrived 14 Sep. 1904 aboard the Oceanic. The one on the Umbria was the policeman and looking at the original I think he was a US citizen. Mind you I could be wrong, it's very difficult to read.

Also he was 38 so born 1866 and the one on the Oceanic was 22 so born 1882.

Liam, this is the arrival you mention:

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957

Name: Daneil Murray
Arrival Date: 14 Sep 1904
Birth Year: abt 1882
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/RaceĀ/Nationality: Irish
Port of Departure: Queenstown, Ireland
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Oceanic

Occupation is Shop Assistant. Onward destination is New York to cousin Mr M Murray 188 East 93 Street. His hometown in Ireland looks something like Dunmanovey.

The original of the one that MarieCeleste posted looks more like Daniel than David to me but he isn't a policeman. He's a clerk for the railroad.

MarieCeleste Report 21 Jan 2012 15:54

Hope you don't mind me posting a different version of the 1930 census:

Rent/home value: Rent $80
Age at first marriage: 28 (now widowed)
Parents' birthplace: Irish Free State

Hi' Erin,
Thats is the correct Daniel,it is also where I got the info from, however I didn't know Eileens date of birth. Eileen's mother died giving birth to their daughter Eileen. [ at least I now have that ]
Daniel arrived in New York 1904, on the 14th Sept 1904, on the Oceanic, aged 22 yrs.
He was reputed to have been in the New york police, I do have a photo of someone in a photo in a police uniform of that era, so I was trying to tie up loose ends.

To - Tracey and Joan, many thanks for your input.

Kind Regards to all
Liam
