Find Ancestors

Throwing in the towel having spent weeks tracking down my Devon Crockers ! CAN ANYONE HELP!
In brief: John & Anne(nee Clarke) CROCKER of Huxham Devon (near Exeter) had 6 children all born/reg. HUXHAM. Elizabeth 1834,John 1837,Sarah-Anne 1841,William 1843,Mary-Jane 1845 and Emma 1850.
I can account for the lifestories of all bar the Eldest two ELIZABETH and JOHN. The last record for Elizabeth was 1861 census an unmarried cook/servant age 26 in Exeter. The last record for John 1851 Census a Paper Maker in Huxham age14.
Parents John and Anne died 1851 Huxham and 1876 Exeter respectively.

Numerous possibilities for these two from early deaths to possible marriages but nothing that will cross reference!

Any help very much appreciated.

problem is theres several marriages from 1861 in the Devon area for an Elizabeth.

This one I picked out because its in her home reg district.

That Elizabeth above married Cornish.
Unfortunately it doesn't give her DOB or parents.
You would need the deatils from the certificate.

Just to rule out a couple ...

The Elizabeth Crocker who married Mr Shapland was born 1809
and the one marrying Mr. Crosby was born 1844 so it's neither of those.

Thanks Shirly, yes that is one of the possible marriages I mentioned, problem is nothing in the census to follow through on a marriage to either Cornish or Ireland ! I've also followed through on other possible time related marriages , nothing !

The 1858 death for John probably not as he was in the 1861 Census.

That contradicts your opening statement

"The last record for John 1851 Census a Paper Maker in Huxham age14."

There are quite a few with same birth year as John born Devon but living somerset, wales, london. Any possibility he didn't stay in the area?

Mike, further back thethread Andrew found John as a mis spelt Crooker, 1861, when you look at the original it is clearly Crocker ,servant to a Miller, born Huxham. Pretty sure it's our John. Just need to find him later or maybe he did die young, if so you would assume close to home!
