Nor can I find Sarah Carter on any census

Ann

Ann Report 15 Jan 2012 15:54

MilliemollyAmanda

This is definately their son as are Thomas George, John and James and a daughter Ann and I think there is a strong possibility that sarah had the maiden name Darlington. I just can not find a connection to Oates for William to call her Mother-in Law

Hi Jeannie

I hav looked uo that site and cant find anything that looks right. I have found a marraige of a Sarah Lighfoot to a William Oakes but I cant see the connection to William Carter - very odd

Jeannie

Jeannie Report 15 Jan 2012 15:33

This is a good site which may show something up. When you discover you're connection to Oakes let me know as they are in my tree as well although there were several unconnected Oakes families in the area

That would tie in with the age - but cant see a marraige. Love your profile picture - looks just how I am feeling!

Hi Helen

Those are the details I have managed to find. Williams mother was a Sarah and the correct age whereas Fanny's mother had a diiferent christian name, but Williams mother should be Carter and I can not find any marraige to suggest she remarried nor can I find her in any other census.

Thanks
Ann

Please could someone look up the 1871 census on a different site to Genes Reunited. The picture is hard to read and I am interested in the "mother-in-law" Sarah. I believe this to be Williams mother but the site has transcribed her name as Oates and that does not tie in anywhere else

Thanks Ann
