Find Ancestors

I have asked about James before but still cannot find him the only info I have is from his daughters marriage certificate

The marriage was 24th May 1847 St Thomas in the Parish of Dudley
John Hyde and Sarah Jackson
On the certificate it as fathers names Philip Hyde Miner deceased
James Jackson Glacier deceased
at the time of marriage it just says Dudley for residence I know John was born
in Deepfields Sedgley abt 1824 any ideas how to find Sarah and James

Ancestry is up to its usual tricks -- it shows her hived off from her actual household -- all of the family members are shown as separate households:

John Jackson abt 1796 - Screw Forger
Sarah Jackson abt 1796
James Jackson abt 1818
Sarah Jackson abt 1822
Elizabeth Jackson abt 1824
Mary Jackson abt 1826
Lucy Jackson abt 1829
Samuel Jackson


Now that doesn't match up with that marriage certificate. John rather than James, screw forger rather than glazier.

The only info I have about Sarah is from her Marriage certificate so only have their children not any of her siblings

you found a family of Jackson's in 1841

Did you remember that ages were generally rounded down to the nearest 5 for all over the age of 15 on that census?


Anyway, this looks like that same family in 1851 ..... and Sarah is still with them.

As your Sarah married in 1847, this does not appear to be your family!

They are also on the 1861, although the daughter Sarah is no longer with them

John is shown as Labourer in Colliery, and Lucy is a Nail Maker ...... that rather fits in with the Screw Forger that John claimed as his occupation on the 1841.


I think you have to look for another Sarah Jackson on the 1841.

I found the one you posted but Sarah married in 1847 and her father was deceased so that is a different family the problem is it's a common name and there seems to be a lot in the Black country
