i have him 1891, 1911, in 1901 his wife was with family in sculcoates, he was a deep sea fisherman, just odd for three days i been looking for 1871 and cant find him, his wife is WINSON T born 1870 hull they married in 1885 sculcoates

i searched free bmd and family search nothing, the census state he was born 1866 hull, there is a thomas w dayes, but its odd 1911 and the others state he is 1866 and name is walter

his marriage cert should name his father .if known

The Thomas W Dayes in 1871 had a father also called Thomas, perhaps the son switched to being called Walter to distinguish him from his father? Assuming that the W stands for Walter.

Definitely need to check father's name on Walter's marriage cert.

Looks like it was Thomas William Dayes, he was slightly younger in 1881 and 1891. So he wasn't Thomas Walter.

he is definatley walter kucinta no census has him as thomas

Hi Shirley 05, I added the 1891 census for Thomas W Dayes in order to rule him out, as middle name was William, not Walter.

Shirley, there could be a number of reasons why he can't be found earlier - serious mistranscription, his mother may have remarried and he's registered under stepfather's name, perhaps he was born out of wedlock and later took the name Dayes when his mother married - all sort of reasons.

I'm not seeing an obvious birth record for him so you really need to get that marriage certificate as posted by the "other" Shirley!

I've had a look in Ancestry trees and it seems there's the same stumbling block.
