Wow just woke up and found so much information and links all in one place. Thank you so much for taking the trouble -- much appreiciated.

As the SylviaInCanada's question. I'm not a professional researcher. It is my retirement hobby. My own family historically and up today are scattered all over the world. In tracing them I get documents and photos from the most strange places. My own mother age 16 and all her aunts have been found in AUS with somebody who is 97. Pictures and records of my mother's grandfather and his parents turned up in NZ. Usually they are with distant relations much older than me who guard their records and photos until they trust the connection. This particular family line is another case - they particularly asked about Walter and what happened to him - don't want to say much about the connection.

For everybody I take the time to download any shipping records, baptism records and gravesites etc. and send them off all over the over the world. Most exciting. Have a list of problem names and gradually they are found as more records come on line.

I'm slow in the work - eyesight not so good so the help I get from everybody here is always appreciated. :-) :-)

There was a 1883-1895 gap in Canadian residence per his 1935 travel doc.

The 1890 US census was 99.99% destroyed by fire.

His residence at time of marriage was Denver, Colorado! Hers was Toronto.

I think this is Margaret Jane's baptism. 1901 census gives birthdate 7 July but year 1868 while 1911 says July 1870. This says 7 July 1866.

Original says daughter of James Hardie and Margaret Gauld his wife born 7 July 1866, baptised 9 Sep. 1866.

Update - just spoke to his great niece and she is near to tears - says thank you so very much how many years have they been looking.
Just her granmother's birth ref is all that is needed now - have put this on a new thread so as not to complicate things

On the 1935 UK incoming passenger list he seems to be with Greeba W. Findlay aged 37 because they're both heading to the same address, 3 Fulbrooke Rd., Cambridge.

On that 1935 arrival in Canada he states that he had been in Canada before from Dec.1882 to 1885 and again from 1893 to June 14, 1935. His address was 4020 Dorchester St., Westmount, Quebec.
