Hello Sylvia, Your theory could be correct as the houses behind us. were bombed and I spent my days till I was about 14 playing on the bomb site Then we moved to another house and ours was knocked down. At 19 I joined the Royal Navy. It was usually to far to go home from were I was Based. So did not get much time to speak to relatives about the past
Thanks for your interest.

George

You could check ScotlandsPeople to see if you can see a birth for him

I think that is the only place where you can find Scottish bmds

It is a Pay-per-view site.

You can search for free, then have to buy credits in order to see the details.

It is quite expensive, and therefore not a good idea to ask other people to use their credits to look for you!

It WAS the war ................

They could have moved from the Hull area for safety

........ maybe gone up to Aberdeen 'cos that was one of the harbours where the Fleet was stationed, and that would have allowed his father to possibly have more time to see his family.

You can check the births for yourself, John Richard I cannot see but if you say he was born in scotland maybe he was...for whatever reason during wartime.

Have you tried the search trees to see if any of them are on here, or are you one of the children?

jax

jax Report 16 Dec 2011 00:13

The others are under the mothers name of Sylvester so the portsmouth ones are not theirs

jax

jax Report 16 Dec 2011 00:04

I can see a couple of the births in Hull and a couple in portsmouth for Brewer and Silvester on freebmd

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

If he was in the Navy then they would have moved around
