Initially I asked for a look up of the family in 1911. That was factual, and something I have found myself. That was the main purpose of this post.

The 1911 couldn't be found and through that I divulged where I gained other information that seemed to correlate to this family. Whether it does, I don't know yet.

Thanks

Gee

The info I have supplied is all taken from the website I posted here, and this is from a descendant of this branch of the family. I have no connection to this info other than the webpage so I don't know how validated it is etc.

So, can you start with the info that you have that is factual and not taken from a website or someones tree.....not sure what you mean by that statement.

Hi again,

The info I have supplied is all taken from the website I posted here, and this is from a descendant of this branch of the family. I have no connection to this info other than the webpage so I don't know how validated it is etc.

But, yes, I assume Alice may have lived with Mr O'Neil under that name before she and he actually married in 1911. Also, despite the fact she says she was born in Manchester in 1901, note I suspect this should be Hartlepool, County Durham. Oh the confusion ... thanks again all for the assistance here!

Ahh, i just noticed the marriage details that Ginny posted.

Peter, the info you gave doesn't quite fit. An extract says "james died when my grandfather was about 2 years old ". There's a few years out because we can see he's still alive on the 1901 when John was 5.

Alice may not have married until later in 1911 but could possibly still have lived with Mr O'Neil.

Hi PricklyHolly; not sure I agree - Alice should on the 1911 with the name Stewart. Was the 1911 census taken in March?

Peter

Peter Report 24 Nov 2011 19:11

I don't know Ginny - I am trying to work through it here.

Which means all the time we have spent looking for James and Alice, we were never going to find them anyway!! :-S

Hi MarieCeleste - ok, I am making this request from a request from another website, which states (a great grandson of James and Alice Stewart):

hi am after any info on the stewart family my grandfather was john stewart his father was james stewart wife alice welch from darlington i believe the stewarts came from around the manchester way but travelled all over i have found records of the family living in liverpool at one time james died when my grandfather was about 2 years old his mother alice welch married richard oneil and he was brought up by his aunt in rochdale i think they called her mary she may have been married to a burnside he went to school with gracie fields i am told. he married emily miller i am told he has relations in the leeds area but am not sure

Excuse me for not posting this before, but I wasn't sure (stupidly) that it would matter.

This was found in a rather serendipidious way when looking for something else:

Peter, I'm really struggling to find them in 1911. Do you know what happened to any of them? - It would give us something to work back from?

Peter

Peter Report 24 Nov 2011 18:50

Oh I see - in my rush to reply, I see you have included the family in 1901 NOT 1911. Thank you though - makes it easier for eveyone else, and I can't copy this info myself!

Peter

Peter Report 24 Nov 2011 18:49

PS Is there a mention of children born/died, and who signed the document and could they write?

Peter

Peter Report 24 Nov 2011 18:48

Thank you Marie Celeste; another marriage certificate to order! I think they married in Sunderland in 1891 - which would fit, but I suspect that the mother Alice, should of been born in Hartlepool, County Durham. Oh these webs that we sometimes find!
