Londonbelle,
& others.

Yes I will do that......

I'm sure you all have now found the correct family......

LondonBelle Report 20 Nov 2011 18:51

If you think that the children I have found are correct, I would put on the ordering form that the mother's maiden name is 'Catling' then that would mean the GRO would select the right one

LondonBelle.

Thank you ...that looks like them too.as Eileen & Albert were the youngest.!

Glitterbaby..

Well we will never know if any of these are correct in 1911 or 1901 but ONE of them has to be correct. and which Birth Certificate to get ?

So how would you solve this ?

Marilyn....

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 20 Nov 2011 18:36

Yes, Margee I think the surname is 'Catling' on the image

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 20 Nov 2011 18:34

Oh that is the marriage that I posted then. Looking at the original I think it could well be Catling.
James is a stoker, his father deceased, her father a painter.

I think the surname for Fanny is 'Catling'

Wondering how you know this is the right family in 1911

GRMarilyn

GRMarilyn Report 20 Nov 2011 18:25

Margee,

Definitely not a Stella......there were 12 siblings and my friend could name them all ,
but she's not aware of Walter that died .

Thanks again.

Marilyn..

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 20 Nov 2011 18:23

The 1901 that I posted is the same family that Marie posted the 1911 for and it looks like Lily could be the one who died.

Oh rats! You've marked it as answered!

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 20 Nov 2011 18:20

Was there, by any chance a sister Stella?

Births Sep 1913 (>99%)

SCOTT Stella M Colling Camberwell 1d 1478

If so it matches this marriage:

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921
about James Scott Name: James Scott
Age: 20
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1877
Spouse Name: Fanny Cotting
Spouse Age: 19
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 14 Feb 1897
Parish: Bethnal Green St James the Great
Borough: Tower Hamlets
Father Name: James Scott
Spouse Father Name: Joseph Cotting
Register Type: Parish Register

I think it's Colling on original.

Margee & GltterBaby .

Marie .....has found to correct one !.

I think Walter was maybe the one that Died ....all the other children are correct .

Thanks for looking ....

Where did Jan get too ?

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 20 Nov 2011 18:15

But he could be using the name of Henry on the 1911 census or a nickname or be mistranscribed

How would you know which is the right 1911 family without some idea of the order of the children

GRMarilyn

GRMarilyn Report 20 Nov 2011 18:11

Jan .

I know his birth date and where he was born as its my friends granddad.
And she wants to order his birth certificate .to start her family tree. Hence knowing ALL his siblings.

When we looked at BMD there were TWO William Henry Scott born in West ham in the same year !!

Surely ordering in that name we would have had to get TWO birth Certs..

We would have to have let GRO know the one we wanted to order, so as not to pay for two .

I have a real tricky one here.

William Henry Scott b1907 Newham West Ham.

Now I cant get the birth cert just yet as there are TWO with the same name and year and place of birth.

Would some kind person look for this man in West Ham Essex in 1911 census .in order to establish his parents so that I can put either of his parents names on the order form so as to get the correct one..

I do have all his brothers and sisters names so they can be matched to his family.
James, Joseph, Edward, Percy, Albert, May, Rose, Daisy, Ivy, Eileen, Ellen. I am not sure if any of them are older than William but the two youngest are Eileen & Albert.

Thanking anyone for this if possible..

Marilyn ......
