I have taken advantage of Ancestry's free access to WWI records to look up Herbert Harold Perrin, born Bradfield, Berkshire 1886. He enlisted in the Royal Berks Regiment in 1909. Ancestry says that he married in Kent before 1915 but doesn't give a date or spouse and that he died in 1968, but doesn't say where. Can anyone help with details please? Many thanks.

1911 institution? Army I presume? Thanks - I'll see if I can find more on that. :-)

re your other Perrin posting - which you should delete by the wy and add to this - small boys were dressed as girls at that time - it was an old wives tale that the devil took little boys so they were dressed as girls until three years of age - have a photo of my Dad in a dress!!

I had looked but for some reason couldn't find him. But I was probably looking in the wrong county, and there are an awful lot of Perrins! Thanks.

Advice taken - thank you!

I have a mystery! Among my husband's aunt's photos is one of a couple with 2 small children who look quite close in age and could even be twins. The wife looks like Helen Elizabeth Perrin, born Bradfield, Berks 1873, who married George Basil Earle (b 1875 South Acton, London) in 1905 South Richmond, Surrey district. But as far as I know they only had one child, Gordon Basil Earle, born 1907 S Richmond district, died 4 March 1945. Could there have been another child that we don't know about? And did small boys still wear dresses in the early 1900s?

Linda, his marriage and spouse's name is on his Pension record. Have you browsed all of the images?

Edit: see Margee has already posted the marriage! For some reason, the brides surname is surrounded by " " and the marriage has not been added to the Marriage Roll.

I couldn't find how to access the other images on Ancestry - I noticed it said 12 images, but no obvious way to see them! Well, not obvious to me anyway! :-0 Interesting that he had a daughter. Auntie Margery remembered him as someone rather eccentric who used to go off and live rough! But I'm not sure what period she was talking about - she was born in 1912 so not before the 1920s anyway.

Linda, to view the other images, click on the arrow at the top, just across from the box next to the word "image". There are details in the record of his injuries.

Have you managed to view the first image okay ?

Across the top of the image in a dark green bar you will see Image Only, Print, Order etc and the below that there is on the left the Zoom In and Out – so look along that to the right.

You should see something like Image – then a number in a box – 114844 of 180931. Then Go followed by a left and right arrow. So to view the next image you need to click on the right arrow

Oops I see Potty has already answered
