Thanks Tudor for that information. I am sure it will be very useful as I carry out my research into this family. If I cant find them in Shropshire then I know there is a chance I will find them in Montgomeryshire.

Jane,

The place that you're looking for is LLANYMYNECH, and part the problem is that the border between Shropshire and Powys (would have been Montgomeryshire prior to the boundaries reorganisation) which is also the boundary between England and Wales runs through the village. So you have one part in Shropshire (England) and the other in Wales (Montgomery/Powys). It's all been done to confuse us genealogists. :-S

Incidentally, most my families (both sides) are from that area, so I do know it reasonably well.

the only marriage I came up for was for Robert and Martha (those ones in the 1851 census you found). That marraige took place in St Pancras, London on 20 Aug 1826. Like you I couldnt find anything for John and Sarah.

I tried to look up a marriage between Thomas Paddock and a Sarah and a Robert Thomas John Paddock but can'r find anything on any combination of names. Thought maybe he was using a second name.

I think I have a possible death for Sarah as June quarter 1846 reg in Atcham. Westbury comes under Atcham.

Please can someone see if they can find John and Sarah Paddock on the 1841 census for Westbury Shropshire. They had two children but they probably would have left home by 1841. The childrens names were Robert Paddock and John Paddock. both were baptised in 1798.
