Nothing to be ashamed of Nick - we've all made the mistake of believing the information given by family members until we find out differently! Often a fresh pair of eyes helps.

Rose,
What can I say! Absolutely brilliant work, I feel so ashamed that I couldn't find this out myself.
Thank you so much.

Must be the Longtown marriage in 1911 then. Too bad you just missed the census.

Parents were Harry Taylor and Mary Coulthard according to this tree:

Betty Margaret Taylor was the tree owner's mother.

Oh no!
Have my family been telling me porkies all these years!!
Thanks for noticing this Rose.
So frustrating that all of my family on that side have passed away.

Have just ordered the birth cert, so should know who they are soon!!

You also said that Philip was an older brother, but again it looks like he was actually younger.

Hi all,
Thanks for all the posts.
I was always told that 'Olaf' was the eldest of the lot, but am doubting this now.
I will have to get a copy of my grandfathers birth cert to sort this out I think, but the latest posts do seem to point in the same direction.
I will let you all know.
Thanks again

Could "Olaf" have been younger than him?

Births Jun 1913 Taylor Henry O Coulthard Lincoln 7a 923

There is the possibility that Miss Couthard was actually a widow and may have been Mrs. Something else when she married Frederick's father.

My grandfather died in 1994, and my father in 2006, so have no birth certificate to hand. so will have to try and purchase a new one I guess to help with names.
Not found any details on 1911 census so far.

RutlandBelle thanks for the link will check that out too. I know eventually they settled down in Saxilby, but again before then I have no idea.
