I am trying to find Amy Eliza Williams nee Howitt on the 1911 census.

I have found her three children on the 1911 census they are living with various relatives or boarding.

Amy Eliza Williams nee Howitt was born 5/4/1872 in Putney. By 1911 she was a widow.
In 1907 she was living in Battersea (info from her husbands death certificate) but at some point she did move to Gosport/Portsmouth (she had family there).

I have already contacted the people with her on their trees but they are not direct decendents and can not help.

Can anyone help me track her down?

Thank you

Julie

Thank you for this info, GlitterBaby, but this is not her. Her Mothers name was Charlotte Howitt nee Whittle.

I will keep trying to track her down ~ Are there many people missing from the Census in 1911 and why might that be. She was a widow and none of her children were living with her!!

She later remarried, Thomas Elkins, and moved to Weymouth, but that was in the mid 1920s.

There are quite a few people missing from the 1911 Census, particularly women. At this time women were fighting for the right to vote and refused to be enumerated. I have several missing in my own tree. Amy could be one of these or perhaps she was on the move.

Thanks Joy ~ looks like I might have to wait for the 1921 census to see If I can pick her up again!

Just for date of second marriage:-

Marriages Dec 1925 (>99%)
Elkins Thomas Williams Weymouth 5a 808
Williams Amy E Elkins Weymouth 5a 808
The district Weymouth is an alternative name for Weymouth and it is in the county of Dorset

...............are you absoulutely sure that the marriage refers to your Amy Wiliams, it would make her 53yrs old?

Her death?
England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2006 about Amy E Elkins
Name: Amy E Elkins
Birth Date: abt 1872
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1945
Age at Death: 73
Registration district: Basingstoke
Inferred County: Hampshire
Volume: 2c

Yes ~ I am quite sure that this second marriage is my Amy Eliza (nee Howitt then Williams then Elkins) because my Grandad and my great Aunts used to spend their summer holidays with her and Tom in Weymouth, when their own mum (Amy Florence b 1895) left the marital home.

I am trying to find out what Amy Eliza was upto after her first husbands death in 1907 (Walter Archer Williams b1871 d1907) to her second marriage in 1925 to Thomas Elkins.

She does not seem to be on the 1911 census so I think I will have to wait until the 1921 census!!

Thanks
