Can't find a John Victor Cooper. Closest one is John Cooper born 1893, father John Cooper, waiter, mother Catherine Johnson.

I see on the incoming passenger list he was heading to Chatham Naval Barracks, he was a stoker.

Where did you find that he was born in Montreal? I realize that's where the ship departed but that's as close inland as an ocean going ship could go.

Is this the correct arrival?

UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960
Name: John Cooper
Birth Date: abt 1898
Age: 27
Port of Departure: Montréal, Québec, Canada
Arrival Date: 1 Aug 1925
Port of Arrival: Liverpool, England
Ports of Voyage: Quebec
Ship Name: Doric
Shipping Line: White Star Line
Official Number: 127981

He was a Stoker and he was going to stay at the Naval Barracks in Chatham. In the column "Country of Intended Future Permanent Residence" there is a tick in "Other Parts of the British Empire" (other options were England, Ireland, Wales & Scotland). Am wondering if "Other Parts" would cover Commonwealth countries, e.g. Canada?
