Find Ancestors

Hi I am trying to find the birth record of a Lavinia Print born 1868 in either Staffordshire or Hull, her dad was Thomas Print a shoemaker, Lavinia wed a James Trowill in Hull in 1889, I have been onto Hull registry office, but they can't find her, I am checking elswhere, but was hoping some one could find her, to give me a lead. I have asked for info before but now I have this extra information, I can find nothing in the birth records, so it is a puzzle.

She may not have been registered ,It wasnt compulsory till 1875 when it became a finable offence not to reg a birth within 42days ie 6 weeks,that rule still applies now.

Take it you have checked on FreeBMD

You say you have asked before?? so before looking further what info have you already got like census etc

Hi Shrley, yes I did check bmd, but no luck, I have her marriage certificate & that is all at the moment.

There is a Selina aged 5 in the workhouse too. The other two say born Horniglow (which comes under B-o-T) but Selina has 'born Church Greasley Derbys.

Hi I keep coming up with Lavinia born in Burton Upon Trent, it is a bit puzzling ,& maybe she did marry again.

Still not seeing a birth for Lavinia though !! And on most census found birth place is down as "Burton on Trent "

Hello everyone, thanks for all this info, I will see what I can piece together, I do seem to think that Lavinia was born in Burton Upon Trent & not Hull as I first thought, but no birth records as yet.
