Find Ancestors

I am trying to tie up the loose ends re my Gt Uncle Jabez Robert LAST.

Born 27 Jan 1865 in Stow St Marys , the son of Robert Charles LAST and Mary MOSS.

He died 23 Feb 1919 in the Miller Hospital , London and the witness was Frances REED who is listed as his niece.

I can find no record of Frances in our family and no record of Jabez in the 1891 , 1911 census or any record of a marriage.

If anyone is able to help it will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Paul - do you have any idea what his occupation might have been?

The 1881 census has him as a painter, but not sure if it means artist or decorator!

I think the 1891 census with Robert last is actually Arthur Robert last born J/F/M 1865 Maldon Essex.

Hi all,

As far as I am aware , Jabez was never a Baker always a Last. That is where the confusion lies as i have gone back to the 1500's with the name Last and never come across a Reed / Baker in the family.

Still need to track him down in the 1891 and 1911 census.

His death cert does advise that at the time of death he was a Crane Driver

Strange I can't find any of the Baker family in 1911 or the Last family.

We know the address 1,Woodland Street is correct as the Bakers were there in 1901 and William Alfred last there in 1915.

Its so annoying.
