Did Evan died in 1938?

I have found a possible newspaper clipping for him :-)

for birth records you need to know what province, all vital statistics are recorded on a province by province basis

only some provinces have searchable databases on line

the 1881 census is free at familysearch.org but the site is down now when I try

at Ancestry I don't see an Edwin or Evan to match that birthdate in the 1881 census

you need to give more information that you have to help identify him

might he be this person in the 1901 census in Hochelaga Quebec ?

McPherson Evan M Head M Jan 1 1873 28
McPherson Mary F Wife M Dec 8 1873 27
McPherson Amelia F Daughter S Apr 29 1897 3

Like the UK, Canada has no national BMD registration. In Canada's case, it's a provincial responsibility, so you need to know which province had jurisdiction.

The census is available (with free images) from 1871 on via the links at:

The only possible match I can see is a Robert E Mcpherson. Father is William Mcpherson, mother Isabella smith both of Scotland. Robert E died 28 May 1934. Does this sound possible?
