Hi I have found a marriage on Wiltshire BMD for Frederick Baker to Eliza Sevin in 1859 at Colerne St John the Baptist Church, Can anyone please find Eliza in the 1841 or 1851 census she was born Chippenham c1835 give or take years. I can find her later with the Baker family. Some of the children were with mothers maiden name of Savin and some with Sevin. |

I'm not so good, JoP, I happen to have the cd's for British Vital Records Index. They allow me to look up all children of Thomas & Lucy in Langley Burrell with surname starting with S. |

Well, I'm afraid I can't find them in 1841, I've tried all kinds of combinations! |

ha ha, i see! How do name changes like this come about? Very confusing! |

Name changes come about because very few people could read or write back then so they didn't know if their name had been mis-spelled. |
