Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone

I have hit a brick wall I'm looking for info on my Grandfather's Grandparents:

My Grandfather was Robert Walker born 1855 Fulham Died 1905 London

His Father was John born abt 1816 Leek Staffordshire I have this info from 1851 Census John was living in Fulham when the census was taken

John Married Ann Palmer born 1824 Croydon Surrey John and Ann married 1855 after the birth of some of their children I have the Marriage record which shows:

John Walker Father as Roger Dec Occupation Miller no other details given

Ann Palmer Father as Robert Dec Occupation Butcher

I would love some help as to how to trace their dates of birth and who they married i.e the Mothers names of John and Ann

As I live in New Zealand I'm unsure where to look to find the above info and would love to hear from someone who can help.

Many thanks any little will add to the jig saw of my family.

Have you found them (John and Ann, pre-marriage) in the 1841 census, or Ann in 1851, possibly with parents?

I have not found them in the 1841 census not sure where to look their first child was born 1846 Chatham Kent

Greatful for any assistance you may be able to give me.

Mike, your birth ref for Ann could be right.....

In the 1861 they are at 267 Goldings (?) cottages, Fulham
and Ann is 35 years old..........which doesn't tally with Patchems find on the 1851.

Many thanks and yes the above is the family Robert age 6 is my Grandfather he died when my Mother was age nine so I know very little about the family It looks as though he people mentioned by Mike could be connected is there any way of checking if Robert Palmer was a Butcher grateful for all the help and any information which may lead to completing the search.

I wonder if this could possibly be Ann in 1841 ... the age is a bit out

Note that ages of people over the age of 15 on the 1841 census were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 ........ most enumerators did this (although some did not). But you should always remember to deduct 4 years from the birth year of adults found on the 1841. So Robert for example could have been born as early as 1787
