ok - thats great - I didnt know that a birth didnt have to be registered......

The marriage cert may be the only way forward then. I had though that if she had a member of her family staying in one of the census (or visa versa)
and I found an earlier census with her name & theirs on it - I could confirm her family without having to buy another cert.

You must bear in mind that, until 1875, failure to register births was not penalised.....so Sarah's birth may NOT have been registered.

IF she knew her father, his name and occupation will be on her marriage cert
