Lorraine, why not edit your heading to say something like 'ancestry parish record lookup please' - if someone can find it you might get away without ordering the cert. Either way you need to find his father's name.

I think we are crossing posts here!
The marriage cert gives fathers' names and occupations, groom's occupation, addresses and ages for the couple, plus names of witnesses.

I have edited my post above to include the only match I can see on Freebmd. If it makes sense re. the census records - i.e. they married between 1871 and 1881 - maybe someone can look up the parish record on Ancestry.

can anyone please help.. im totally stuck on this one, my great great grandfather was martin murphy b. around 1851 though i beleive it may be as early as 1844 now in Kanturk Co Cork Ireland i cannot find any trace of his birth .. i know what happened to him and who he married from census records but i cant find any thing to do with his birth or early days in ireland ,i dont even know when he left ireland.

i have tried several irish websites but without success

please can anyone find any info on him .. i want to know mainly who his parents were and when he arrived here ..he married a emma smith in the hackney/islington area she came from suffolk orginally..
