Irish records help please

Can anyone help me with the above. I have just found James Sheridan's name from his daughters marriage certificate that I purchased. I know nothing about him except he was a butcher and he died prior to 1911 irish census. His wife was a Mary Devitt born approx 1875. Mary was born in Bray,Co.Wicklow but their first two children are born in Dublin. I have searches a pay per view site for the marriage but nothing is coming up.

Any ideas please?

Dont know if you have this info...but this is James mother and brothers back in Dublin 1911...note that Adalaide Maude Meeke daughter of John Meeke and Margaret Sheridan (1901 Census Bray) is with her Sheridan grandmother...Her father has remarried and also living in Dublin so I can only assume Margaret Meeke(nee Sheridan ) has also died in the intervening years....1901-1911

I have located a Baptism for a James Sheridan 1874 at St Andrews RC Church Dublin...Parents Richard Sheridan and Ellen Connoll.....it is the only one for a James with a mother Ellen ......

Re Baptism of James Sheridan 1874....parents Richard Sheridan and Ellen Connell...I wonder if he died as I have found another and the age is more in keeping with that listed for James 1901 and age at death....

Sorry I have been studying your information. Many thanks for helping me locate James in the 1901 census and the rest of the family.

The baptism appears too early though as he was born 1880 according to census and 1882 according to possibly his death. Can you have a look for Ellens marriage perhaps to check fathers name.If not many many thanks for your help.

Yes they did. superb help many thanks- have you any ideas about the baptism of Ellens other children she had 12 according to 1911 census. There is only 5 shown on censuses - or am I pushing my luck??????

It would be great to find out something about Richard Sheridan also as we are all trying to prove we are related to the great Irish writer!!!!

Ellen stated she had 12 children but only 8 still living.....
Well you can account for 2/3...?James b.1874...James (1880) and Margaret (Meeke).

I can account for 5 in total from the two census forms but I wondered if there was any way to trace the others through baptisms?

Mmm.. Interesting that Richard (1911) shows Richard Brinsley Sheridan...but your going to have to go back to his g.grandfather to even begin to see if there is a connection however tenuous
RBS..Irish writer was b late 1700s and settled in England ...his grandson RBS (son of Thomas Sheridan) went on to be an MP England..... but I am sure you have searched out all that history....
