Hi Kath, we have no idea what happened to her or who she was? and i only found out her name when we got birth cert, he never ever spoke about his life. i have only just found out who my mum and aunties called aunt Lizie but got no clue at all if she was related

yes he did marry and had 4 children one being my mum i have traced my nans side of the family ashton's and Greaves very well could be a clue i have no idea I do have his Birth/Death cert but for the whittle's i draw a blank

Thanks for your prompt response Jonesey . what you said could be a possibility, but I know for sure that his mother was Margaret Whittle. What I am unsure about is why Elizabeth Ashley brought him up and was she related to his mother. I know Elizabeth lived in Liverpool all her life and he was born in Bebington. I have his birth certificate. no father name.

Do you know if he married? This is his death I wonder if there are any clues on the certificate

my grandad was born at 10 Easton Road Lower Bebbington, Merseyside England. i have his birth record, and his mother was margaret whittle (got no records/dates) he was brought up by elizibeth ashley b:1885 in 1911 census age 5 he's logged as harold whettle, tryin to trace the whittle family but nothing. any idea's?
