It is quite a few years since I researched this family line, and being "stuck" on another surname decided to recheck this family. I have 2 Barraclough sisters who emigrated to the USA in 1906. 1) Mary Ellen Barraclough. This one I have found before on the 1930 USA census records. At this time she is married to a Harry Hinccliffe and as 5 children. According to census Harry was born in Pennsylvania ( aged 49 on census,Mary is 48) Anyone able to find a birth for Harry and a marriage for him to Mary. 2)Ann Barraclough. never been able to find anything about her since her emigration in 1906, so any info would be gratefully received.

this looks like Ann going to the US ( I do not have access to details, the record could show where she was going )
BARRACLOUGH Ann 1884 F 1907 Liverpool USA Philadelphia
I don't see a record that is clearly identifiable as Mary Ellen
Beverley have you looked in the 1900 US census for Harry?
possibly he would be in the 1880 if ages were rounded ... no 1890 census available unfortunately

I meant to say Beverly ... I don't know where anyone would find information on marriages but since you have Harry in the censuses and I've given you Harry Hinchcliffe's parents' info I don't think a marriage or birth would provide much more for that one
I have a similar problem to yours with Ann, two sisters of a grandparent who emigrated to the US, I don't know whether they married first or not, their names are not Smith but still too common to be sure, I know what state they lived in around 1930, but I have no idea how to find them
what are you actually looking for, is it descendants ?
have you tried googling for obituaries ?
oh bad luck ... someone with the name Harry Hinchcliffe is heavy into gaming on line or something ...
oh I see you already had the 1880 (and 1920) census and Harry's parents' details so that was not my time well spent

there are not very many Hinchcliffes in Pennsylvania today
http://www.whitepages.com/search/FindPerson?firstname_begins_with=1&firstname=&name=hinchcliffe&where=pennsylvania
and one of them is named Harry ... I would write letters myself
in the 1910 US census there are a dozen Barracloughs in Philadelphia born in England, is it possible that the sisters went out to family, cousins or the like ?
one in the 1910 census who is easily identifiable in England is this one in 1851
Name: Horatio Barraclough Age: 1 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1850 Relation: Son Father's Name: Isaac Barraclough Mother's Name: Sarah Barraclough Gender: M (Male) Where born: North Bierley, Yorkshire, England Civil parish: North Bierley
any relation ?
there are only 4 Barracloughs in Philadelphia today, could also be worth a try
