Looking for Jane Gibson born c1898 in Linton Northumberland. She had an older sister Ena. The family all lived around the Northumberland area.
Thankyou!

Have you found her on the 1901 census

Token Report 26 Aug 2011 21:32

Not yet - we're not 100% on the date of birth, this is just what my mum can remember. We can't find Ena so not sure if it is short for something. Since we couldn't get her in 1901 we thought the birth might be a bit out and would be easier to find in 1911.

Was her mother called Jane?

There is this one who is described as step-daughter to the head of household, so it looks as if her mother has re-married:-

Yes that looks like it is her. Especially with the place of birth. I just rechecked 1901 census and there is a Jane Ann born 1901 Linton, northumberland.
I only got Linton as a birthplace today so thet has helped pinpoint her.
Thats great thanks!

Perhaps Ena was short for Thomasine.

quite possibly. I just checked 1901 census myself, just the original image. I can't read all of it but does have jane ann and Joseph bell fenwick. There was one unreadable name I thought must be thomasine but would she turn up in 2 places on one census?

Token Report 26 Aug 2011 22:30

on second look it looks like something - Jane Gibson aged 16 so would make birth 1885 and Thomasines (or Thomasinas?) older sister.
Can anyone help with the name?

Yes that's it thanks!
Margaret Jane doesnt seem to be living with the family in the earlier census records though. New line of enquiry for me!

This is a possibility for the parent's marriage:-

Name: GIBSON, Thomas
Registration District: Morpeth
County: Northumberland
Year of Registration: 1881
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Not available before 1912
Volume No: 10B
Page No: 456

Spouse is either Jane Hall or Jane Hope.

You would need to buy one of the children's birth certificates to see what the mother's maiden name was.
