Joanne being Phillip's mother

Have just stumbled onto this topic & found some Kraus names, can anyone shed some light onto who they could be as my maiden name was Kraus & my father, Keith is from Middlesbrough. I am trying to find any information really, but all we know is my grandfathers name was Arthur & his wifes name Dorothea ( maiden name Marshall )

I cannot find Edward Smith on the 1901 Census, yet Lyndsey found him in 1911, so he is presumably hiding somewhere!!

I think it is going to be a matter of finding the members of the family one by one!

I did some searching then had to go for dinner, etc.


There are 2 family trees on ancestry that have Edward Smith as the son of John Thomas Smith, b.ca 1850, and Mary Upton, b. ca 1850

However, neither of them show any documentary evidsence, and neither of tem take the information any further than the 1881 Census ..... I can't quite understand which one they were following!
