Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone

Could someone help me please I am trying locate the birth of my husbands Auntie, her name was Dorothy Brown (She never married), she was born in 1892 or 1893, and died around the 1980''s, we think she was born in Galloway Street, Edge Hill, Liverpool, and what we are trying to find out is what the house number she was born in.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Yes, look for the birth on freebmd....and buy the cert to find out the address at which the birth took place.

Who were her parents?

Do you know who her parents are or siblings?

I think I would approach this from her death certificate.

That should give her date of birth and any middle names, ...if the informant knew these facts of course.It should give town of birth too.
This might help to find the correct birth certificate.

Alternatively, if you think she was baptised young, you could look for a baptism record which might give an address, although that is not proof that she was born at the same place.

The 1901 census has a Dorothy Brown aged 8 living at 21 Galloway St. Parents are William James & Mary A.

21 looks quite likely, but I have a family in Portsmouth who seemed to live in at least 4 houses within the same street in just a short time.

The birth certificate will definitely give the address of where she was born.

I get those sort of results with expensive birth certificates and only get the name of the sizeable village.

Her parents were Mary Cockram and William Brown, and we know of a sister Norah Brown born in 1911. ( I am sorry I should have put that the area is part of West Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire.

Nora married into the Avison family. I cannot find Dorothy's birth on Freebmd, just had another look.
