Hello All,
Can anyone help me who knows the workings of the Military during the WW1. I am researching James Rush from Liverpool who was killed in France,Flander in 1917. I have his details and his number is down as 85401, machine gun corp.
I am now trying to find out when he enlisted. There is a James Rush b1884 enlisted 1915 but his number is 20784. Could these two be the same person. I've not had to search military records befor.
Regards.
Ann

Around 70% of WW1 Records were destroyed as a result of enemy action during WW2.

So you may never find the records you seek..........

There are notes on the records for 20784 dated 1922....................rules him out, I would say

He married in 1913 at All Saints L'pool to Mary Catherine McP(F)arlane 3.12.1913, and they had a daughter in 1915 (first name poss Mary....2nd name def Winifred

No, not really....................short, I mean. The average height of males in that era was much less than it is nowadays........
