There is a marriage in 1857 to a George Waters and this corresponds to Charlotte Waters in the 1871 census born 1829 in Thornham also the 1861 working as a servant with George Waters born in Thornham. They don't seem to have any children with them in either of those census though.

On her mothers grave it said.... left are two sons and three daughters and her mother died in 1878 so i prosume she was alive then. I have checked all those marriages and they aren't her.

I'm not sure how you would know who she married wiithout buying a cert to see the fathers name Isaac ?

Michele Report 14 May 2011 14:36

Last time she was using maiden name was in 1851 she was a house servant age 23, working for a Charles goodwin in Malling Wrotham, if that is her .I made the mistake of thinking she was married to a Solomon Goodwin but i was wrong, he married a Charlotte Hodge.

Michelle

Have you checked the marriage to George Waters? As you say in the 1851 she was working in Malling, Kent then this marriage would/could fit.

LesleyC HAS found the right marriage (as I have -too late!)
!857 Jun Q Malling Kent George Waters to Charlotte Tolhurst
The ref is 2a 578a on the Charlotte record on BMD but 2a 518a on the George record
Each is the only name on the record so it is perfectly clear this is the same marriage

GillianMac Report 14 May 2011 14:54

They (George and Charlotte) are both working together as servants in Canterbury in 1861 -there do not seem to be any children up to 1891
