Hi Everyone,
My grandther WILLIAM TERRY married my grandmother ANNIE WILKINSON IN 1919 in Bury Lancashire
On receiving their marriage certificate I found out that he had been married before.
I found out that he married his first wife ETHEL JACKSON in 1909 Bury and that she died in 1912.
On the 1911 census ETHEL TERRY nee JACKSON is living in Bury with her family as my grandfather was in the navy but I found that they had had a son JOHN TERRY B1909.
This really puzzled me as my mother,IDA TERRY, William and Annie Terry's daughter ,had never mentioned that she had had a half brother

I assumed that John must have died as an infant but I have not found out that he died as a POW in Japan in 1943.
Someone has found his POW record card for me and on it it names a sister MAGGIE TERRY .
This has totally stunned me as now not only did my mother have a half brother but a half sister as well.
Can anyone suggest a way that I can find out about these half siblins ?

There are no family members alive to ask .

I have no idea of the dob for Maggie but John was born 19/11/1909 and his mother died 1912 so it does narrow it down a bit.
I have looked for a birth record for Maggie but not found one.

They lived all their life in Bury. As far as I can tell from the info I have John never lived with his father but was brought up by his mothers sister, SUSANNAH BIRKS nee JACKSON.

Susannah only had one other child and that was ELSIE BIRKS B1919

The only other info that may help is that at the time of John Terry's capture he gave his address as 18 PEARSON STREET BURY

Has anyone any ideas of how I can find out more about all this please ?
regards Kath
