yeah dont no what to think now, when my grandfather was born in 1914.

That 'threw me' at first as well, Christine.

The 'silly' enumerator writes his W's almost identically to his M's. (except that the first stroke on the 'M' starts lower down than that on the 'W')

If you look up the page you will see that all the married couples have what looks like a 'W' (but is an 'M'), whereas the ones who are widowed have 'Wid' !!!!

There are 3 Western families over two pages though and one has a James that looks like the james in 1901.
