Slug & Lettuce Report 7 May 2011 17:27

Hi
Please may I ask for a look up on Find My Past?

I noticed a thread on General Chat and didn't realise FMP held records to find out if someone was a teacher.

I have filled in the boxes and got this link
http://www.findmypast.co.uk/search/teachers-registrations/results?firstName=MARY+&includeFirstNameVariants=true&_includeFirstNameVariants=on&lastName=WILKINSON&_includeLastNameVariants=on®istrationStartYear=1914®istrationEndYear=1955&firstPositionStartYear=&
firstPositionEndYear=&x=23&y=17

As this is such a long link the information is :-

Mary Wilkinson from 1914 to 1955.

Mary is my Grandmother - born in 1895. Staffordshire.
My mum mentioned that she may have been a teacher but I have not been able to find anything to prove it.

It shows 3 Mary Wilkinson's....

If it costs credits to look please don't worry and let me know and I will remove the post.

Thank you very much.

No problem to do the look up but there is none on there showing as a teacher.

Do you have any other info on her? Parents perhaps??

Hello Ria - just a thought, but her marriage certificate may show her occupation is she had one when she wed.

Hi MarieCeleste

Lovely picture....

I have the marriage certificate and no occupation is shown against her name.

She was living with her step father and mum at a Pub so I expect she helped out........

Thanks for trying to help though. Much appreciated.

Yes Dea

Sorry, don't know how much information or which information you need.
Didnt want to bombard you with too many details.
Just thought is was Mary Ellen Wilkinson you would need for a look up.

The information you have above is correct.... that is my family,
Just to throw a spanner in the works too, Louisa married :-

1. William Wilkinson
2. John Tomkinson
3. Edward Mountford

The two Tomkinson children are Louisa's from her second marriage.

By the way, Edmund Tomkinson went on to become the Headmaster at Smallthorne School.

Slug & Lettuce Report 7 May 2011 20:06

All I needed was to know if my Grandmother
Mary Ellen Wilkinson was in the teacher records on find my past.
I noticed a thread on the General Chat board about Teacher Records.

Tried to look myself and found nothing with Mary Ellen Wilkinson
Tried Mary Wilkinson and found 3 of them. Not being a member myself that is why I asked for the look up.
Was working on something mum said about her being a teacher at some point. Never been able to find anything to prove it - thought it would be worth asking just to see if the Mary Wilkinson's were from Staffordshire or what information came with the name.

That was all really, couldn't understand why parents were needed but thought that maybe when you looked at FMP and found the Mary Wilkinson record parents were named too.

Don't worry if she isn't one of the Mary Wilkinson's, I was only trying to tie up yet another loose end. (lol)

I will put a sorted tick if that is the case. Thank you.

Hi Tempest

Yes not being a member of FMP I could see 3 Mary Wilkinsons.

I didnt know when she may have been a teacher so I tried a wide search and with only the 3 it was worth a try.

Thank you for looking.

I think then, If the Mary Ellen which I found, with parents and family is 'your' Mary, then the other 3 who you were looking at are not the ones you want.?

Do let us know if you need any further help wih her.
