I'm trying to find info on David Robinson Murphy's daughter C R Murphy and his father James Murphy.
David Robinson Murphy was born 1880/1 I believe in Ireland- married his second wife Winifred Smith on 16th May 1925 in Newcastle upon Tyne when he was 44 years old. Later they divorced and at the age of 70 died on 8th Dec 1951 at 86 ------ street Gateshead, where he had lived with his daughter C R Murphy. This daughter may not be the daughter of Winifred. As far as I know, Winifred only had two daughters - oldest daughter Winifred and younger daughter Muriel. What do the initials C R stand for and did she marry?

His father James Murphy - born in Ireland but where was he born and what was his wife's name? I would grateful if someone could find this info out for me as my eyes are not so good.

Have you looked for him on any census to establish a time frame for when he came over from Ireland

It looks like David Robinson Murphy age 10 is not the same person as David Murphy age 20 in the census you have given me.

I was always lead to believe that the Murphy family came from Ireland, but that looks like wrong info now doen't it. They must have come from Scotland.

I have the following:-
Marriage cert of David Robinson Murphy and Winifred Smith on 16th May 1925.

Birth cert of a Daughter Muriel, born 6th Oct 1930 with father David Robinson Murphy and Winifred Murphy formerly Smith of 72 East Durham Street Newcastle upon Tyne.

Death cert of David Robinson Murphy 8th Dec 1951.
David lived with a daughter C R Murphy at the time of his death. I can't read the street name. 86 ----- Street Gateshead. C R Murphy is his daughter but from which marriage?
His father James Murphy was at that time deceased.

The info where you have put the Emoticon - not sure what I do with that info.
What do you think my next move should be? Where do I go from here?

CR MURPHY is Davids daughter from his first marriage to Florence M Wallace as posted above.

Source citation you quote is just the ref for the 1881 Scottish Census posted

Does the marriage cert to Winifred describe him as a widower. It all fits except the difference in Robinson and Robertson Especially as CR Murphy his daughter was also named after his mum with her maiden name Robertson as a second name.
Plus the birth found has the father as James Murphy.
I think its the same David just that the second name got changed along the line.

David's birth cert says David Robinson Murphy, but his marriage cert to Winifred says Robertson and so does his death cert. It could be an error or his name could have been changed.

Who is the one living relative?

Davids birth cert has his second mane as Robertson NOT Robinson but i think its the same guy. he may not have had his actual birth cert so confused his second name as Robinson rather than Robertson,
His daughter CR Murphy who was the informant is def the one I posted and her second name is Robertson .ie Davids mums maiden name. ;-)
