Interestingly this is all I have been able to come up with before but in the previous census (1891) is shows the mother Sarah C. coming from Madras (and in 1901) shows as "E Indies" so assume same place. I am not sure whether that seems correct family - will look into more. |

Really sorry, getting my 'Edwards' mixed up - too many across the generations downwards! It is actually James Henry Smith (all other details the same). Have amended the post to reflect (you can tell I am new at this!!) |

Hi. I know it's a long shot but looking for help with James Henry Smith from Islington/Edmonton etc area. He has definitely one son (called Edward) who married Gladys Dreanis (o/w Drenes) Green on 19th December 1909 in Islington as his name is on the wedding certificate I located online. I cannot find a birth for Edward but I assume him to be born circa 1890 due to the age noted on the wedding cert. Another person detailed in the wedding cert is a Catherine Smith and I assume this is either the wife of James Henry Smith or his daughter (and therefore Edward sister) but I am just guessing and have had no luck tracing her in this area. I have Edward & Gladys living at Campbell Rd, Islington (Finsbury Park) in the 1911 census and from what I can see most of the Green side of the family occupied alot of this same road for many years (Edward address at time of marriage was also in that road). I have tried to search the 1911 census a few pages forwards and back from Edward & Gladys address but they don't necessarily seem to run in order and so no luck yet. |
