Find Ancestors

My Grandfather was Joseph claude DeVille, he may have had a brother called Frederick. Lived in Devon. Born around 1900, bel;ieve his father was George DeVille. We have been told that the family link comes from France but i dont know how to look for this or to ensure have correct family. My Grandfather did marry before my Gran Edith Reed, but his wife and baby died in childbirth.

THERE IS A TREE ON ANCESTRY WHO HAS THE FATHER JOHN DE VIELL born 1782 in Tamworth Staffordshire married to Mary. ???

George Pridham Deville is only 33 when he dies in 1901, and born in Ivybridge, so presumably he is probably a descendant of George Pridham Deville baptised 1822, and not the same man?
