Find Ancestors

Hi, I am trying to locate the birth details of a Phylis Sherratt. She appears on the 1911 census as the daughter of Abraham & Elizabeth Sherratt. She is shown as being age 2 and born in 1909 in Openshaw, Manchester. She has 2 sisters Maud Florence - born 1903 at Islington, London and May born 1907 in Openshaw, Manchester. I have located their birth details with no problems but after trying many searches (in different formats) I have just reached a brick wall. Maybe she was known as Phylis but registered with a different name. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

There is this one,the only Phyllis of 3/4 spellings.

Dec registration could be a late one or a late Aug/Sept birth.

maybe dad was mistaken where she was born

Thanks for your quick response. I have had the birth cert for Martha and it's not Phylis, and I don't think Phyllis M Sharratt is right - she would only have been a few months old when the census was taken and the age given is definitely 2. Thanks for trying.

Have you followed her through ie found a marriage cert and death cert

Do you know her mothers maiden name?

There is a Leicester Phyllis on 1911 which leesens the chances of it being that one.

Hi, there's nothing on the marriage searches that jump out and there's no death for a Phylis Sherratt that I can find.

Her mothers's name was Elizabeth Martin - according to the census they had been married for 9 years, but I've not been able to locate that info either.

Army records for Abraham Sherratt age 42 when he enlisted document dated 1915 number 20530 6th Battalion manchester reg next of kin unmarried wife Elizabeth Sherratt of 92,Montague Street Collyhurst.

So they didn't marry.

Thanks for the additional info. I have been in touch with the owner of the tree regarding Maud and we are pooling our info.

With regard to the Army info I have already seen this and printed off all the docs held.

Phyllis Martin - I am going to send for the birth cert for this one .... there's always a chance that this could be the answer!!!!
