I have been fascinated in family history for many years now and I would love to begin by finding out more about my Grans side of the family, in regards to the Kelly’s and Lytteltons as I don’t have a lot of information about them! I very often think about what my Great Nan and Granddads parent’s names/professions would have been as well as their siblings, aunties, uncles etc! It would also be lovely to find out whether there are descendants of those sides of the family alive to the present day; surely there is?! If there is anyone reading this who believes they could be related to me or would be able to assist me in discovering more about my family in some way, I would love for you to get in contact.
My Great Nan was named Agnes Kelly. Agnes was from a large Irish family; she was one of thirteen children. My Dad told me that his Nan (Agnes) had a brother who died at a very young age due to being overworked. Agnes married a man called William John Lyttleton, who was a civil servant. William was also from Ireland. Agnes and William had three children: Hilda Emeline (My Gran), Eileen and Raymond (Dr Raymond A Lyttleton). I am not certain when my Great Grandparents moved from Ireland but I know that they lived in Birmingham as that’s where my Gran (Hilda) and her siblings lived. Hilda was born on the 17th October 1909. Hilda married Eric Ronald Greenhill (My Granddad) on the 2nd March 1935 and they had four children, one of which is my Dad. Hilda died on 4th October 1981.
I am pretty certain that Raymond Lyttleton was born in 1911. He was a Mathematician and Theoretical Astronomer. He married a lady named Maeve Hobden; however they did not have any children. I am pretty sure that Raymond died in 1995.
Eileen Lyttleton married a man named Howard Marsh, he fought in the war; it may have been WW1 and 2, but we're not certain whether it was both or which individual one it would have been. They too didn’t have any children.
Agnes Lyttleton died and was buried in Herefordshire on the 25th July 1965 aged 86. She was either born in 1878 or 1879.

I would doubt that Howard fought in WW1........unless he was much older than his wife

Thank you for your response Ann, I'll note everything down, the information you gave is very interesting. Thank you very much for your responses Flick, especially the Irish census, I had no idea I could look at the Irish archives online, so I will have to have a look on there!! In regards to the information you found below, I'm not quite sure what everything means! Do the years and the numbers given before them indicate the ages of those people in that particular year? I'm unsure what the '4 years M 27 1884 Telegraphist Dublin City VIEW' means underneath LYTTLETON, William Jn Head Married. I'm new to all of this, so any guidance would be appreciated very much!

If the death I posted is the correct one for Eileen's husband, he certainly would have been old enough to serve in WW1............but too old for WW2.
If he was in WW1, this may be relevant......................

I would like to say thank you very much to everyone who has responded so far who has gone to all the effort of sending me websites that can assist me with my research as well as the information that could refer to members of my family too. I really am grateful! Not all information adds up with certain facts I know already and not all facts on certain individuals seem correct due to one saying one thing and the other stating different, but thats probably due to there being more than one person with that name I imagine?!
