If this is her birth then should have only been one or two months old on the 1901 census but it definatly looks like 11 months...so is it an error?

I cannot see these people on 1911.

The Kathleen Stevenson death you posted, if the correct one, would seem to confirm that her middle name was May and not Mary, so the only way forward is to buy the marriage cert which would give the father's name to confirm.
