Hello,

I am hoping to find descendants of the Catherall Family Tree in East London!

My Great Granmother was Daisy Catherall, born 1901 in London (Bethnal Green/East London area).
Daisy was the daughter of Herbert Walter Catherall, born c1868 and his wife Margaret Norris.
Daisy also had a brother William, Henry and Herbert Catherall and sister Lilian.

Regards,

Mary

Hi Mary, have you used the Search Trees facility on here? There may be members with the same family members as those you are seeking.

Usually, to find people you have to look for them, not just hope they'll see you. ;) Imagine the odds of somebody related seeing a post on this board - ! It happens, but not very often.

AmazingGrace's suggestion is the first thing to do.

Next is to start searching.

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

For example, if you search for marriages for the name Herbert Catherall, there's a Herbert W Catherall marriage in Stepney in 1920 that is almost certainly your Daisy's brother, I'd imagine.

He married an Edwards. So then you search for Catherall births with mother Edwards, and there are births in 1921 and 1927 in Mile End and Stepney.

This now gives you more names to search for in trees here at GR (Herbert's wife and children -- I won't post the names here because it is much more fun to do the searching yourself, and you need to get used to it for doing other family history research -- and because a person born in 1927 could be living now, so that would invade privacy.)

You can repeat that process for the other siblings.

And two people besides you do have Herbert Catherall 1894 in their trees. You're in touch?

And I see from all our previous contact re Trainers that you do know how hard one has to *look for* people sometimes!

Hello,

Thank you for responses!

*Patchem-thank you for the info :)

*Amazing Grace and *Janey---Many thanks for your message! :)

I have already done the tree search and a few months ago I contacted a couple of GR members who have almost identical Catherall family trees to myself-however I never recieved a response.
So I can only assume that they don't use the site anymore which is a shame :(

The reason I have put this thread up is so that if anyone in the future does happen to join GR and does a search of 'Catherall' family in the 'Trying to Find' section-then they may stumble upon my thread! Yeah it is a long shot but ya never know!

Janey-thanks for the tip re searching for births etc! This helpful in developing family tree!

Hello Dianne,

It's nearly twelve months since this thread was first posted and it's unlikely that Maz is still looking for replies.

You can try clicking on her name and sending your message that way. If she still has the same email address, she will be notified.

The best way to find connections on this site is to put the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above to see if anyone else has them in their tree. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner.

If you would like help with your research, then why not start a thread of your own? Take a look at the Help Clinic - above left - for further advice.
