It is a mystery why Augustus states he is single in 1914, as you say there is no reason if he and Beatrice had parted to name Sarah as next of kin, though perhaps more understandable if Beatrice had died and then 'single' was noted instead of widow. Only the date of Beatrice's death would give the answer. |

I certainly believe that both Augustus and Beatrice intended to remain in Canada as Augustus states that his intended occupation in Canada was to be a labourer. There was not a British Bonus granted but that was what was paid to shipping agents rather than passengers who would receive a monetary bonus only on proof of settlement. The passenger list indicates that they were heading for Acton West which I believe is in Ontario. |

There is now no doubt that the Augustus W Large who joined up in Canada in 1914 is your man. The address that Beatrice's mother lived at with George Bickers was 60 St Leonards Street, Bromley. See 1891 census record Class: RG12; Piece: 319; Folio 73; Page 2 for confirmation. |
