Thank you Barry, is there anyway you can find when Sophia Evans nee Stainer died please. As she couldn't be found after the 1861 census. It said James was a widower (posting from another kind helper)

Mary's parents were James b 1817 Bath died 1871 and Sophia Stainer b 1816 Somerset

Yes Linda, on 1871 James senior (1818) is listed as widower on the original. James junior (1847) has occupation of woodchopper.

I see on the census for 1871 you have Mary's father James living with them, but no whereabouts for her Mother Sophia nee Stainer, b Somerset 1818
Would imagine she had died then?
