I don't know if anyone can help me here but it's worth an ask.

I have William Campbell born 13-02-1872 in Greenock, his parents were William and Anna Campbell (ms Letson). They went to America (not sure when ) but they had another son Born Massachusetts in 1887.

William Campbell (1872) married an unknown and had a son called Harry Campbell c1905, Albert & Annie (Ewing) Campbell, cared for him for about a year.Nothing more was heard of him - possibly parents divorced.

Is it possible to find any information on Harry and his mother please?

Hope you can understand all this.

Hi Mary,

I think it was Massachusetts.

Harry could've been born c1910 as Albert and Annies first son died 1911.

Nothing obvious for the 1891 Scotland census, may suggest that the family moved to America between 1881 and 1891.

Lynne,
Thank you, that is them.
They had another son Daniel born 1881 in Greenock, they went on to have another son Thomas Letson Campbell born in Canada in 1883 and 2 children in America, Albert 1887 and Ethel 1889.

MadBull, I don't know what you mean?

It's just a previous thread that you had on the same family dated Jan. 2010.
I thought the info on it might help people looking for this son.

I was looking for Thomas on the other thread, Harry is a nephew.

Am I doing wrong by having this thread as it seems Harry just vanished without a trace and I haven't asked for help to find him before?

No, no, Sandra, I'm not saying that. I just thought it might help in looking for Harry and his father.
I looked through it, hoping it might help.
I can't find William on the 1900 US census although Albert is still with parents. Was William married by then?

MargaretM Report 18 Mar 2011 13:58

Albert & Annie on the 1910 census have no children with them and they haven't had any at that time. So where's Harry?

Sandra

MadBull, thaank god for that, I've been told off a few times for making mistakes. Lol.

I'm really sorry but I don't know when William married, I know it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. I didn't think I would get anywhere with Harry but thought I would try anyway.

Albert and Annie had a son in Aug 1911 but he died the same day, so it was some time after this that they looked after Harry but no one seems to know what happened to Harry.

I see, in 1920, Albert G. & Annie L. had a daughter Mildred, 6 and a son John E., 3 but no sign of Harry.

They looked after Harry for about a year after the death of their own son.

Don't know what happened to Harrys parents either. I think his father William died c1940, possibly in New York.
